No handbags for Gayatri.

My college-going daughter, Gayatri, couldn’t make it home for Diwali this year. She traveled from her dorm to her uncle’s home in Delhi for the festival.

Gayatri carried all her pairs of jeans and trousers to her uncle’s home. She found a tailor near there and prevailed upon the tailor to enlarge all her pockets to smartphone-size.

She got the the tailor to increase the size of the pockets, to stitch new pockets for the old jeans.

I don’t know what to make of that behavior. My sister-in-law encouraged her. They went to three different tailors till they finally found one who was willing to do it within the holiday of the Diwali break.

No handbags for Gayatri!

I asked her, but what if you buy fruit?

She said, “Mom! I carry a backpack”.
